(non volatile) when the computer is turned off but any data
that is saved to a ROM chip can only be read and cannot be
modified.

The most common form of ROM memory is CD-ROMs
and DVD-ROMs.

hard disk. This means that, just like a hard drive, any type
of data can be saved to it.

It is also possible to run portable versions of many of the
most popular pieces of computer software.
